echoes of a shoe-lover's soul

Romulo Tobias ♥ Nena Bacud(Golden Wedding Anniversary)30 December | Manila Hotel“Never did Capt. Romulo and Lola Nena thought that they would have their vows renewed 50 years after their wedding. A Golden Shotgun Wedding, so to speak. A true labor of love, the Tobias family, together with their relatives and pamangkins prepared a long time for this secret special event. Everyone contributed and shared for the new rings of the couple. Since the family wanted a very simple but memorable wedding, they did almost everything by themselves: coordination, invites for 120 guests, planning, and even entertainment. They made sure the big secret would not leak out. All along, the couple thought they were just going to have a family pictorial at Manila Hotel and Luneta Park since it was their wedding anniversary. We played along, of course, but still documented everything. Capt. Romulo and Lola Nena walked into a room full of people who loved them. They were accompanied by marching cadettes and still haven’t got a clue of what’s happening. Reaching the altar, Lola Nena was so surprised to see the man standing in front of them. The brother of Capt. Tobias, Most Rev. Antonio Tobias. The same man who wed them 50 years ago.”~Dominic Barrios, photographer

I spotted Happy Lab recently at Chadstone Shopping Center and was immediately enticed by the cute packaging and creative store design. Beakers and test tubes filled with colourful candy and chocolate line the walls whilst staff parade around in lab coats. If the sugar doesn’t make you happy, the colours surely will. Don’t you just love great packaging? - Eat Drink Chic

Valentine’s Day isn’t just for romantic reminders; it’s also a great excuse to celebrate friends, family and co-workers who make our lives happier. This Besties card from FareWell Paperie would be a great way to send your friends a little “you’re great” note, and it even splits in two, just like elementary school heart necklaces. I was never on the receiving end of one of those (I am forever uncool), but I’ve got my fingers crossed that this paper version might be within the realm of possibility. If you’re looking to send your bestie a note, click here to pick up one of these cards online. xo, grace - from Design*Sponge

It just adds a little bit of love.
Heathy Cookies
2 cups all purpose flour 3/4 teaspoon baking soda 1/2 teaspoon salt 1/2 cup butter, slightly softened 1 cup dark brown sugar 1/2 cup peanut butter 2 eggs 2 teaspoons vanilla 1 1/3 cup (8 oz bag) Heath Toffee Bits
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
In a small bowl, mix flour, soda and salt using a wire whisk and set aside.
In another bowl, cream butter, dark brown sugar and peanut butter until light and fluffy.
Add eggs and vanilla and mix until combined.
Add flour mixture to creamed mixture and mix until combined.
Stir in toffee bits, reserving some to dip tops of cookies.
Roll cookie dough into 1-1/4 inch balls. Chill for a few minutes to make it easier to roll or use a small cookie scoop.
Dip tops of cookies in bits and place on parchment paper covered baking sheet.
Bake about 10 minutes.
Place cookies on cookie rack to cool.
Makes about 30 2-inch cookies.
Note: I only had almost a cup left of bits to use for these cookies, but I would use the whole bag and possibly even two for these cookies.
Enjoy every little bit!
